Senior Product Engineer, Wallet
Own the consumer wallet end to end — balances, payments, requests and exchange — on top of a double-entry ledger that has to be right every single time.
About Paydoly
Paydoly is building the payments network for the Dominican Republic: wallets for people, tools for merchants, payouts for teams and a cash agent network that connects them — on one balance, in pesos and dollars. Paydoly Inc. is our US parent company; Paydoly Dominicana, S.R.L. is our Dominican operating company. We're a small team holding a large surface, and the work ships to real counters fast.
The role
The wallet is where most people meet Paydoly. It holds two currencies, pays merchants by QR, sends and requests money, and hands off to an agent when someone needs cash. Every screen sits on a ledger that cannot be wrong.
You'll lead product engineering for the wallet: shaping what we build with product and design, writing much of it yourself, and setting the standard for how money-moving features are designed, tested and released.
What you'll do
- Design and ship wallet features across the API and client, from data model to release
- Build payment, request and exchange flows on the double-entry ledger with idempotency and clear failure states
- Own reliability for the wallet: monitoring, alerting, incident response and post-mortems
- Work with compliance on limits, verification tiers and transaction monitoring hooks
- Review code and mentor engineers on correctness, security and testing
- Spend time in the market watching real people use what you built
What you'll bring
- Six or more years building production software, with at least two on systems that move money
- Strong TypeScript and a modern backend stack; comfort with PostgreSQL and transactional design
- Experience with idempotent APIs, event-driven systems and reconciliation
- A habit of writing things down: design docs, runbooks, clear pull requests
- Judgement about when to move fast and when to slow down
- Professional English; Spanish is a strong plus
Nice to have
- Experience with mobile wallets or payment networks in Latin America
- Background in ledgers, clearing or settlement
- React Native or native mobile experience
- Security engineering or threat-modelling experience
